Geen draagvlak in Arnhem voor herbouw Thorbecke HBS
Ondanks dat Gerrit Breeman van Volkshuisvesting lobby-werkzaamheden uitvoert voor de herbouw van de voormalige Thorbecke HBS is de stad gewoon tegen een mega-gebouw op het Gele Rijdersplein in Arnhem.
Breeman heeft zeer recent een bezoek gebracht aan de meeste fracties in de Arnhemse gemeenteraad met vragen over de plannen voor de HBS. Volgens de Gelderlander zou daar ook positief op gereageerd zijn door de meeste fracties.
Behalve Breeman en een paar politiek fracties is er geen draagvlak voor de plan van de HBS. Veel bezoekers van de stad zijn tegen de bouw en de ondernemers aan het Gele Rijdersplein zijn ook duidelijk kritisch. Politiek Arnhem is tenslotte zelfs verantwoordelijk geweest voor het verloederen van het Gele Rijdersplein en de Looierstraat door onder andere geen auto’s meer toe te laten.
Er gaan geluiden in de wandelgangen dat Breeman vooral zijn lobby-werkzaamheden heeft uitgevoerd richting ‘de altijd zo goed samenwerkende’ coalitiepartijen D66, SP, CDA en Groen Links om zo snel aan een meerderheid te komen in de Arnhemse raad.
