D66 geeft ruim baan voor initiatief uit de wijk
Bij de behandeling van de perspectiefnota kijkt D66 Arnhem tevreden naar een stuk waar een duidelijk D66 stempel op ligt: meer ruimte voor de eigen kracht van inwoners en voor de expertise van professionals.
Toch ziet fractievoorzitter Sabine Andeweg nog ruimte voor verbetering: “Natuurlijk op onze thema’s onderwijs, economie en duurzaamheid, maar bovenal roepen wij op tot versterking van het herdenkingstoerisme, in samenwerking met provincie en buurgemeentes.”
Geef ruimte en vertrouwen
D66 herkent zich in de wil om anders te besturen zoals omschreven in de radicale herschikking ‘Van wijken weten’. D66 wil zoveel mogelijk ruimte geven aan initiatieven van inwoners. Want wie weet er nou beter wat er goed is in een buurt dan de bewoners zelf? Dit betekent dat je als gemeente ruimte en vertrouwen moet geven. Andeweg: “Keer op keer zien we dat sommige partijen dit lastig vinden. D66 is klaar voor deze omslag.”
Onderwijs, economie en duurzaamheid
Op de D66 thema’s onderwijs, economie en duurzaamheid ziet Andeweg nog verbeterpunten. “We zijn op de goede weg”, benadrukt de D66 politica, “maar het kan altijd beter.” Zo dienen de democraten met de PvdA een motie in die Arnhem als onderwijsstad op de kaart houdt en de samenwerking tussen onderwijs, bedrijfsleven en overheid versterkt. Met de VVD komen ze met een voorstel voor een ondernemersloket voor een betere facilitering van de lokale economie. En met GroenLinks roept D66 op om vooral de onuitputtelijke energiebron zonne-energie aan te boren.
Herdenkingstoerisme regionale kans
De herdenking Market Garden is een belangrijke toeristische trekker voor onze stad en regio met grote economische potentie. D66 maakt zich hard voor goede regionale samenwerking tussen gemeenten en provincie op dit onderwerp. Andeweg: “Dit is geen onderwerp waarop wij elkaar zouden moeten beconcurreren zoals de perspectiefnota impliceert. Nu het plan voor een Vrijheidsmuseum niet doorgaat moeten we zorgen dat we Arnhem samen met omliggende gemeentes en de provincie op een innovatieve manier, op de kaart zetten als belangrijke regio voor herinneringstoerisme.”
