Er is veel kritiek op burgemeester Kaiser van Arnhem, sinds dat hij is begonnen met het harde optreden tegen kroegen en cafe’s waar van alles ‘mis mee zou zijn’. De acties van de burgemeester om bepaalde kroegen en cafe’s te sluiten is niet door iedereen met open armen ontvangen.

In verschillende media er al gemeld dat de burgemeester verschillende cafe’s extra in de gaten gaat houden in verband met allerlei ongeregeldheden of overlast. Maat het gaat volgens sommige ondernemers te ver om cafe’s te sluiten omdat sommige klanten, zonder medeweten van de eigenaar, coke verkopen aan anderen.
Kaiser sluit selectief bepaalde tenten
Een ondernemer in de Korenmarkt, die anoniem wilde blijven, verklaarde dat de burgemeester selectief te werk gaat. ‘Je kunt in Arnhem in bijna alle kroegen coke of andere verboden middelen krijgen zonder dat de cafeeigenaar daar van afweet. Dit wordt vaak onderling tussen de bezoekers geregeld. Waarom sluit de burgemeester de ene tent wel, en de ander niet? Er zijn zelfs geen invallen bij al die andere tenten. Denkt de burgemeester nu werkelijk dat ze niets tegen gaan komen op de vloer van andere cafe’s als er een politieinval is?’
