Sinds de komst van Meltem Plaza naar Arnhem is er een Turkse supermarktorlog begonnen in Arnhem. Meltem Plaza heeft al een paar vestigingen in Nederland en is de eerste Turkse supermarkt in Arnhem waar je met een winkelwagen kunt boodschappen.
Turkse supermarktoorlog in Arnhem
Meltem Plaza zit sinds augustus in een voormalige winkelunit van de Scapino in winkelcentrum De Lely. De supermarkt onderscheid zich door een breed en diep productassortiment en een eigen slagerij- en broodafdeling. Meltem Plaza zorgde al voor een start van een Turkse supermarktoorlog door een vestiging in Apeldoorn te openen, waar Ozbaktat marktleider was. Volgens de laatste berichten zal Ozbaktat nu ook een vestiging openen in Arnhem. Waar en wanneer dit het geval zal zijn is nog niet bekend.
Bestaande Turkse supermarkten hebben geen last
De bekende Turkse supermarkten in Arnhem zoals Pamukkale market (Presikhaaf), Turkiyem Market (Presikhaaf), Yollarbasi (Klarendal) en Mert Supermarket (Malburgen) lijken hier weinig last van te hebben omdat ze vooral veel klanten hebben uit hun eigen gebied. Ondanks dat deze supermarkten goed draaien verwachten analisten in Arnhem niet dat de huidige Turkse ‘supers’ last krijgen van de nieuwe vestiging van Meltem Plaza. Winkelcentrum De Lely heeft ook haar eigen klanten dankzij een vestiging van Lidl en Jumbo.
De consument in Arnhem zal natuurlijk zijn voordeel halen uit een prijzenoorlog wanneer de verschillende supermarkten gaan stunten met prijzen en kortingen.
