Avondje stappen met vrienden en afsluiten met een zwempartij in de Maas kost 38-jarige man uit Cuijk het leven.
Zaterdagavond ging een groepje vrienden stappen. Na het stappen besloten ze te gaan zwemmen ter hoogte van het haventje gelegen aan de Maasboulevard.
Na wat lol en zwemmen klommen ze weer aan wal. Alleen werd een persoon gemist. Er werd onmiddellijk een reddingsactie opgezet. Alle hulpdiensten werden ingeschakeld.
Een duiker van de brandweer vond uiteindelijk de drenkeling waarna de ambulancepersoneel de reanimatie startte. Het slachtoffer werd ondertussen naar het Radboudziekenhuis overgebracht. Ondanks alle actie is de man overleden. Zijn vrienden zijn opgevangen en hebben slachtofferhulp gekregen.
