Juxtapose viert vijfjarig jubileum met wereldact Mr. Scruff
Het Arnhemse dance collectief Juxtapose viert zaterdag 8 oktober haar vijfjarig jubileum met een act van wereldformaat. De Britse Mr. Scruff komt een marathonset draaien in de grote zaal van poppodium Luxor Live in Arnhem.
Vijf jaar Juxtapose
Aanvankelijk is Juxtapose begonnen als online platform waar liefhebbers van nieuwe, niet doorsnee, muziek zich verzamelden om elkaar te ontmoeten. Al snel werd dit gevolgd door een vaste clubavond in de bovenzaal van Luxor Live en doen ze regelmatig hostings tijdens 8Bahn events. Juxtapose heeft in de afgelopen jaren podium geboden aan een batterij interessante acts zoals Lefto, Alexander Nut, Illum Sphere, Africa Hitech, Kutmah, Sassy J en Jameszoo.
Marathon man Mr. Scruff
Met een karrevracht aan vinyl en een imposante DJ-set komt de Britse DJ Mr. Scruff naar Luxor Live. En dat is goed nieuws voor de liefhebbers van deze inmiddels legendarische DJ die bekend staat om zijn indrukwekkende marathonoptredens.
Mr. Scruff trekt alles uit de kast om het publiek te vermaken. Op geheel eigen wijze mixt hij jazz, hiphop, ska, soul, disco, house, afrobeat en funk tot een aanstekelijk dansbaar geheel. Werkelijk alles gaat in de grote ‘Scruffanazir’. En daarbij worden zijn optredens opgeluisterd door spectaculaire live-visuals, gemaakt door Mr. Scruff zelf. Want naast muzikant is de Brit ook een zeer getalenteerde cartoonist.
Aanvankelijk was Mr. Scruff (Andy Carthy) vooral bekend in zijn woonplaats Manchester en omgeving. Maar al snel ontdekte heel Groot-Brittanië zijn talent. Nadat hij werd opgepikt door het label Ninja Tune kreeg hij ook wereldwijd een cultstatus. Mr. Scruff bracht talloze albums uit, maar vooral live is deze groovy alleskunner een echte smaakmaker.
Grootmeester van de dansvloer
Ook voor Luxor Live is het een eer om de grootmeester van de dansvloer te mogen ontvangen in haar poppodium. “Eindelijk kunnen we Arnhem trakteren op een van zijn legendarische marathonsets.” aldus programmeur Niels Leferink. De avond vindt plaats in de grote zaal.
De belangstelling voor Mr. Scruff is enorm, geïnteresseerden wordt daarom aangeraden kaarten in de voorverkoop te kopen.
